HERITAGE by Irene Bloor (Sung to the old Methodist tune 'Stella' 8.8.8.8.8.8 click link for midi file)
Originally written by Irene in 1976 for the Centenary of Scot Hay Methodist Chapel and adapted by David Bloor on her passing away on Christmas Eve 1991 and sung at her funeral service at Scot Hay.
Two thousand years of Christian Faith From hand to hand the torch has passed, Through peace and wars, through hopes and fears It still shines bright across the years Till in our hands 'tis held today To light us on our Christian way.
Two thousand years of Christian Love From heart to heart have flowed along Though sometimes faint it yet runs clear And fills our hearts in each new year. May faith and hope and love we pray Help us to live the Christian way.
Two thousand years of praise and prayer From hearts with faith and love made glad. May we with Thee our whole lives long Whilst raising still our prayerful song Bring comfort to the sad each day And guide youth in the Christian way.
Faith, hope and loving charity Far down the years have come our way, That in our time there may arise To raise His glory to the skies A faith that's young, and strong, and free To light the way for all to see. |
